"A fantastic programme run by a small but effective staff that has a real impact on the community it serves," Dominic Fletcher

Who will I help?

For most people London Fields in Holborn isn’t much of a night-time attraction. Yet for around 150 of London’s Rough Sleepers it provides a life-line every night in the form of a hot evening meal.

AMURT believe everyone deserves good food and they put their compassion into action by cooking hot, delicious vegetarian meals.

Each Thursday they prepare the food at their base at Stoke Newington, ship it to Holborn in the mini-bus and feed whoever is in need.

How will I help?

Volunteer at AMURT to show off your cooking skills (or chopping and peeling skills!) and share a willingness to give a hot meal to homeless people.

You may find yourself helping out with:

• Preparing and cooking food
• Setting tables and serving food with a smile
• Clearing up and tidying away

You will be at the heart of this well organised charity, using your time to prepare and serve a hot meal to over 250 people in need.

The people were really helpful and lovely. They even gave me some fruit and veg to take back home and genuinely appreciated my time. It was nice to have conversations with the people working there and to learn more about what they do.

The charity does very good work providing food to homeless people. They make a real difference. I volunteered time to cook, clean and distribute the food. It was a very satisfying experience. AMURT is a volunteer run organisation and the people are very nice and collaborative. The energy at AMURT is very good.
