Who will I help?

Feeling like a real workout while taking in the view at one of London's beautiful community green spaces?

Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses is a wonderfully varied gardening space in the city. The site contains an orchard, two big greenhouses, vegetable beds, a wildlife pond and a herb garden. This means there is a great diversity of tasks that need to be completed - It takes a lot of work to maintain this natural haven away from the noise and bustle of the city!

How will I help?

Your volunteering work will include a wide variety of maintenance tasks and improvements around the site. You'll cultivate the gardens so that they can continue to serve as a much needed educational escape from the city.

You're likely to find yourself:

• Growing vegetables, fruits and herbs
• Planting, seeding and repairing things
• Keeping the gardens accessible and clean for visitors

This opportunity will be a real workout and you'll provide local residents with a wonderful place to come together and be outside!

It was a great day and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. We spent the whole day in the garden digging weed. We were supplied with all necessary equipment and our supervisor was a great fun to work with. He invited us to story telling event for kids which is happening there once a month. At about 3 PM he organized a tea time break, which was very nice of him. We gathered around the table and he told us many interesting stories about different plants.

A colleague and myself from Tideway spent on of our volunteering days at Brockwell Park gardens – and what a great day we had! Yes, doing maintenance stuff like weeding, and planting out salad seedlings, but best of all helping to design and plant up the new sensory bed – what great fun we had, the hours just flew by. It’s a beautiful place, with very dedicated and nice people running. Highly recommended for those with a green thumb or just enjoying a tranquil environment!
