Who will I help?

Nina-Iraq is a bi-lingual (Arabic-English) magazine dedicated to female empowerment in Iraq and the Middle East.

Nina reports on issues that pertain to female empowerment and seeks to raise awareness and change perceptions in Iraq and the Middle East about feminist discourses and the role of women in society. The aim of the magazine is to publish content that encourages debate of ideas and challenges the highly patriarchal structure of society in Iraq and the Middle East.

The magazine is run entirely by volunteers and depends on contributions from citizen journalists like your self.

How will I help?

Volunteer with Nina Iraq if you enjoy writing and feel that you are able to contribute a piece which will speak to women in the Middle East, you can submit an article (or two!) on a range of topics, from your own home, working remotely.

You may find yourself helping out by writing an article on a subject of interest:

• Providing your perspective on women's rights
• Informing readers of your experiences in a particular industry, culture or business
• Sharing your hobbies and interests with readers

An exciting project for you to get stuck in with in to empower women in Iraq.

** The time and effort taken from your side can be as much or as little as you need to finalise the article and is likely to be less than your volunteering day. Please be aware that a few days will pass between your draft and the receipt of Mehdi's edited version.

    :

I wrote an introduction to careers in management consulting. Benefacto setup the connection with Natalie Schoon from Nina Iraq. Process of writing the article and working with Natalie to have it ready for publication was smooth and collaborative. I would strongly encourage other people to volunteer their time for this worthy cause.

I researched and published an article on the Iraqi oil industry, and Madeleine provided editorial guidance throughout, which was fantastic. It was a really fulfilling experience. I received exposure through my article being published in Nina and some other business websites, and it felt great to share my professional insights with the Iraqi business community.
