Provide employability skills to young care leavers at the Careers Club in Waterloo
"This honestly was one of the best days in my life, in terms of satisfaction helping young adults with the opportunity to raise awareness around work and employment culture," Kobir Ahmed
Who will I help?
Getting a job can be a difficult and demoralising task – but made much harder for a young person with an absence of supportive family.
Drive Forward Foundation work with young care leavers ages 16-26 to give them the skills and confidence they need to find meaningful employment, broaden their horizons and change their lives.
Requiring genuine commitment from each young person, Drive Foundation provides one-to-one career support, mentoring and meaningful job placements.
How will I help?
Volunteer at the lunchtime Careers Club to use your professional skills to help young ambitious people lacking the support networks they need to help find meaningful employment. Around 8 young people attend the session each week and the charity hosts a free communal lunch before getting down to the job searches.
You're likely to find yourself working 1:1 with a young person:
• Offering interview tips and CV writing skills
• Providing support with job applications
• Delivering mock interviews
An opportunity to help share your knowledge with committed youngsters focused on developing a career.
