I had a great time helping out at Share Community this week. They are very well organised and welcoming, and offer a great service to adults with learning difficulties in the local area. I helped out in their IT class for the day. They weren’t very busy so I got to spend time chatting and getting to know the students. With no experience of this type of thing I learnt a lot about how this charity helps people with all sorts of learning difficulties, and felt that I got out of the experience as much as the students did.

Loved my volunteer day at Share, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The students were brilliant to work with and the activities were fun to be involved in. All in all it was a great day spent with lovely people, only wish I had more opportunities to volunteer again!

I had a great time helping out at Share Community. The staff there were very welcoming and made my colleague and I feel at home instantly. I spent my morning in the IT class working through some tasks with the students. The second half of the day turned out to be the allocated time for the annual Christmas party and this was a lot of fun. We got to mingle with all of the students and carers, which was very enjoyable. I would recommend volunteering days at Share Community and would definitely be interested in helping out again in the future.

Excellent experience and would volunteer either work time or free time at Share Community. A real insight into how vulnerable members of society cope with everyday activities.

I would have liked to have a bit more of information about the people who I was going to meet because it is difficult to help without knowing what their disabilities are.

I really enjoyed my day helping out at Share Community. Going in with no expectations, I was really impressed with the work that is going on there to support the students, and how structured and meaningful the activity is. I helped out in a workshop on the topic of volunteering, and it was great to see the students getting involved as well as responding so warmly to me. They are all fascinating individuals with different motivations and needs, but the sense of community really comes through. I would definitely volunteer at Share Community again, as well as recommend it as an experience to my peers.
